 Shut the Door on Doubt: Unwavering Faith

Let the Shunammite woman's story inspire unwavering faith in God's power to bring miracles, even in tragedy.


Scripture:

2 Kings 4:18-21 (NIV) - "The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers. He said to his father, 'My head! My head!' His father told a servant, 'Carry him to his mother.' After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died. She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out."

Welcome back to our "Shut The Door" series. Today, we explore 2 Kings 4:18-21, where a mother's unwavering faith in God leads her to shut the door to despair and seek a miracle.

These verses witness a heartbreaking situation as the Shunammite woman's son falls ill and dies. Instead of yielding to grief, she shuts the door to hopelessness and carries her son to the bed of the man of God, Elisha.


Revelatory Example: Imagine a family member facing a challenging circumstance that seems impossible to overcome. They turn their heart to God, just as the Shunammite woman did. As they shut the door to doubt and fear, they witness God's hand moving miraculously in their situation.

Christian Principle: Shutting the door to despair and opening our hearts to God's intervention displays unwavering faith. Even in the face of tragedy, our faith can lead us to trust God's plan and believe for His miracles.


Prayer:

Lord, help us shut the door on doubt and open our hearts to You. Like this mother, strengthen our faith to trust You fully and believe in Your miracles, even in our darkest hours. We choose unwavering faith in Your power. In Jesus' name, amen.
